General Information:
Preview LUT´s can be used in software grading solutions or also in playback stations. ARRI is working closely together with industry partners to offer a solid workflow when working with logarithmic files in postproduction.
When viewing logarithmic files on a linear device, these files appear to be pale and flat. Therefore the 3D Lookup Table visualizes the image as it would appear when printed back out on an ARRILASER.
How to order the preview LUTs:
For each partner software ARRI offers a set of 2 preview LUTs plus 1 out-of-gamut LUT free of charge. The LUT´s distinguish between ITU-709 and DCI calibrated digital devices. The Lut´s are universal LUT´s and reflect an average behaviour of film type (averaged between Kodak and Fuji), calibration and laboratory process. They are not optimized for your specific workflow.
